Just when I think I couldn’t possibly love the music of Owl City any more, they release the video to the new single “Vanilla Twilight”. A-MAZ-ING!
Owl City is the brain child of Minnesota native Adam Young, and his story is pretty amazing. I’ve been a fan since I first heard his music last summer and am thrilled to see it reaching new audiences. Owl City is one of a handful of acts keeping me interested among the otherwise boring and quite dismal current music scene (more on that another time).
The melodies, the production, the chord progressions, the lyrics… I love all of it. There is a purity to the music of Owl City that is a rare find on today’s musical landscape. It’s sincere but still innocent and even a bit flighty, while still leaving you feeling like you experienced something significant. A perfect example is, “Vanilla Twilight”, a beautiful song of love, loss and hope. Adam is also a Christian who is quite outspoken about his faith. If you haven’t checked out the Owl City album “Ocean Eyes”, you should definitely do so!
I’ve got tickets to see Owl City live in Nashville next month, along with Paper Route and Lights, and I’m pretty excited!
What did you think of the “Vanilla Twilight” song and video?
