Jonsi-Go

Inspiration From Iceland

I’ve got a lot of half-finished blog ideas and things written, but honestly, the last couple days I’ve felt a bit worn out and needing some inspiration.

Enter “Go”, the new album from Sigùr Ros lead singer Jónsi, which was just released yesterday.  I’ve blogged before about my love of Sigùr Ros’ music and how it moves me.  I won’t rehash all that, but you if you haven’t read that post yet or heard their music, you are really missing out.  Sigùr Ros hails from Iceland and Jonsi sings mostly in an unintelligible, responsive language called “Vonlenska”, which is translated as “hopelandic”. I know, pretty dope, right!?  There are actually a lot of English lyrics on “Go”, which is pretty cool when contrast with the “vonlenska”.

“Go” is brilliant and has been infusing me with mad inspiration.  The album is stunning!  The harmonies, the rhythms, the musical textures… it’s an incredible work of art.  The album is vivid, bursting with creativity and teeming with life!

It sounds like beauty.

It sounds like Spring.

It sounds like hope.

It sounds like redemption.

I wanted to share the video for the song “Go Do” with you.  I know it won’t be everybody’s cup of tea, but for the rest of you, hope you enjoy and are inspired!

For a limited time, you can purchase “Go” at Amazon MP3 for just $6.99. I recommend getting on that. 🙂

What is inspiring you today?

Well, put me in the camp of those for whom Jonsi isn't really doing it but I'm glad it's inspiring you. :)

My team is inspiring me today.
Seeing their work ethic and the way they slice through there work is amazing.
I want to be more like them.

Oh, and Jonsi is along for the ride, at least in my ears.

SWEET!
So excited to find another Christian who is as inspired by and in love the music of these Icelandic artists as I am!

I've seen them twice in concert and there are hardly words to describe it. I haven't listened to GO yet but that shall be soon remedied.

I'm listening to it as i type... downloaded it this morning after all the buzz from twitter last night from you and some of the other music enthusiasts i follow.
i'm stuck on Grow Til Tall. the title drew me in and the tempo is where i'm at right now. loving it and feeling it deep. inspired to continue the path of growth and let go of that which stunts my story. considering what it takes to grow tall. considering what my capacity may actually be. considering the shade i could offer, the sight i could offer, the stability of it all... if i grew til tall.
last week it was One Eskimo's "Amazing". it reminded me of the newness and potential, the freedom and adventure of being born again. so good.
keep sharing the good stuff.

oh yeah, bro. I love Sigur Ros, but have never seen them live. I have heard from many people that it is quite an overwhelming experience. I have the Heima DVD, which is as close as I may ever get unless they tour again. Let me know what you think of "Go" once you hear it.
