An Idol Heart – Guest Post At RefineUs.org

I was recently asked by Justin Davis, campus pastor for Cross Point Bellvue and my friend, if I would contribute a guest blog post to a series about redemption on RefineUs.org, the blog he and his wife Trisha write.

For my guest post, I decided to share my story in a deeper and more candid way than I have even had an opportunity to share here on my own blog yet.  It just felt like it was time.

Thank you, Justin and Trisha.  Your lives are a light, an encouragement and a reminder of the faithfulness of God.  Your story is a picture of redemption and hope to so many people. Thank you for the invitation and opportunity to open my heart and share my story. I pray that God uses it to encourage and speak to someone else in whatever they are facing in their life right now, and to draw people closer to Himself.

your blog so spoke to me tonight... i went thru a similar realignment when God blessed me with an experience in 2006 that became my clarion call into full-time ministry... but the way you described your experience... i had never thought of my own experience like that, but i must confess, mine was eerily similar.

i wonder... as i have moved into FT ministry, have i rid myself of some of the pride, or have i just carried it with me - in a different "form" a "holier" form? (as if pride could ever be considered holy)

i have only recently stumbled across your site... but every time I fall into a post... it resonates...

thanks for risking sharing your heart

Thank you so much for sharing your story. It was great reading about it. As I was reading your story I found some similarities in my own life. I have used school and my career to push away relationships. My parents separated when I was 12 and it terrifies me that I will end up in the same situation. I appreciate reading your story. It was uplifting to hear what God is doing in your life. Praying for you and your journey with God.

Jenny, thank you so much for your comments. Those are some good, hard questions to ask. Is the pride gone or has it just transformed... morphed into a new shape. That's a hard heart question, but a vital one. So glad you "stumbled" over here! Hope you continue to enjoy the blog and find something you connect with. I really appreciate your kind words.

I can completely relate, Chelsea. Thank you for sharing that part of your story. I know first hand that God desires to be our "ultimate" and to remove those fears that are not based or rooted in Him. I'll be praying for your journey as well.
